Sri Varadaraja Perumal Temple 

Sri Varadaraja Perumal Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu,  is an ancient and well known temple lying on the banks of Thamirabarani River at Tirunelveli, 1 km away from Railway station. The main deity of the temple is Veeraraghavan and the Ustava Moorthy is Sri Varadharaja Perumal.

Sri Nellaiappar Temple

Sri Nellaiappar Temple, one of the largest temples in Tamil Nadu  spread over an area of 14 acres, is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is located on the banks of Thamirabarani River, 4 kms away from Railway Station. This is one of the Pancha Sabha temples (Copper) that are revered as the five Cosmic Dance halls of Lord Shiva. The other four are Chidambaram with gold, Madurai with silver, Tiruvalankadu with ruby and Kutralam with images. 

Sri Rajagopala Swamy Temple

Sri Rajagopala Swamy Temple is one of the ancient temples situated in Palayamkottai  It is also known as Sri Vedanarayana Temple.This temple is  devoted to Lord Vishnu and is worshipped as Rajagopala Swamy and Vedanarayan Perumal.

Courtallam (Kuttralam) Falls 

Kutrallam is located at an elevation of about 170 m high, on the Western Ghats, and is known as "Spa of the South". The water here is known for medicinal cure.

Thiruchendur 

Thiruchendur temple, one of six abodes of Lord Subrahmanya, is believed to be the place where Subramanya offered prayers for his victory. The main festival, Skandasashti festival is celebrated in November, which attracts large number of devotees. While visiting Tirunelveli Tourist Places, Thiruchendur is visited by many visitors. 

Papanasam

The famous Shiva temple is located about 60 kms away from here, at the bottom of Western Ghats that is very near to the origin of the River Tambraparani. The main festival, Chitra Vishu festival, is celebrated in April.

Sankaran Koil

Situated 55 kms away, Sankaran Koil is famous for the Chariot Festival in Adithabasu Vizha.

Kunthakulam Bird Sanctuary

Situated 33 kms away, Kunthakulam is a small village covered with natural forests, and home for thousands of birds which migrate from other countries during winter.

Tuthukudi (Tutiorin)

One of the major ports of India, is known for their pearl fishing center.

Augustiyar Temple and fall, one of the most visited places in the city.

Manappad is famous for an old Holy Cross Church, associated with St. Francis Xavier.

Mundanthurai Wildlife Sanctuary a Project Tiger Reserve. But other animals like leopard, sambhar, sloth bear etc.
