Beypore Beach

Beypore Beach is located 10 kms away from Kozhikode (Calicut) in the mouth of Chaliyar river. 

It is a commercial centre for ship building and has existed here 

for more than 1000 years. This Beach is a favorite spot of tourists from all over the world, to enjoy the calm and tranquil environment as well as to see how the ancient business of ship business is thriving even today. The traditional shipbuilders were known as Khalasis. A unique feature of this beach is the 2-kilometer long stretch of path made of huge stones that reaches out in the sea. 

Attractions of Beypore Beach

There are quite a few things you can do at this beach. 

- To watch the creative process of building uru (typical vessel) for Boat building in this beach.

- Fishing 

- 2 km.long stone bridge 

- Thali temple  - an  important temple of the erstwhile Zamorin Kingdom of Kozhikode. The temple is famous for the 'Revathi Pattathanam', an annual competition of pedagogic skills.

- You can taste the delectable freshly cooked seafood delicacies from the seaside stalls and relish the refreshing coconut water. 

- Water sports

Pookode Lake - 13 kms away from Kalpetta, it is a natural fresh water lake surrounded by trees and meadows and is a haven for peace loving travellers. It is located  3 kms from south of Vythiri town. 

Kozhikkode Backwater Cruise - You can enjoy an exhilarating backwater cruise in Kozhikode backwater which is nearby.
