Destination Karnataka was earlier known as Mysore. The unified Karnataka State was formed in November 1973.

Karnataka is situated on the lower West Coast of South India, surrounded by Maharashtra to the north, Arabian Sea to the west, Goa to the northwest, Kerala to the southwest, Andhra Pradesh to the east and Tamil Nadu to southeast. Karnataka is known for its rich cultural heritage. It was ruled by many kingdoms in the past and some of them had built great temples, mosques, forts and palaces of architectural marvels, during their glorious period.

The major part of India’s gold production is from Karnataka. It is one of the most industrialized states of India.

The State is known for Carnatic Music, lovely garden cities, beautiful temples and historical monuments, including world heritage sites like Hampi. Karnataka is also famous for sandalwood and rosewood.

Apart from knowing as a land of royal grandeur and oriental glory, Karnataka's place in the Information Technology field is also well known.
