Telugu Engagement

In Telugu marriage, the engagement is called the Nischithartum or Pradhanum. When the bridegroom arrives at the venue of the engagement, accompanied by his family members, he is received with warm welcome by the bride's family. The bridegroom's people carry gifts and fruits to give to the girl and her family.

The bridegroom's mother presents a sari to the bride, and then the bride changes into that sari and sits for the Nischithartum ritual, as per custom.
