Rameshwaram Beach

Rameshwaram Beach is located in the sacred island Rameswaram off the mainland surrounded by Palk Strait and the Gulf of Mannar, at Tamil Nadu.

It is a calm and serene beach. The beach has shallow waters which makes it an ideal spot for swimming and sunbathing.This is the only place in the region where one could swim in the sea day and night. Rameshwaram is one of the most popular pilgrimage centers of South India. It is believed that Lord Sri Rama constructed the mythological bridge to Sri Lanka. 

Attractions of Rameswaram Beach

Ramanathaswamy Temple, spread over 151 acrs, and is a magnificent example of Dravidian art. It is one of the most important temples in South India, built in 17th century. It is famous for its 1200 gigantic granite columns. The 54 meter tall gate-tower, called ‘Gopuram' and 1220 meters of magnificent corridors attracts even foreign tourists to this temple.

Agnitheertham - 100 kms away. This is the place where Rama worshipped Lord Siva and asked forgiveness for killing Ravana.

Exotic variety of marine life-algae, starfish, sea cucumber, crabs, and sea sponges are found here.

Sometimes Dolphins can be seen in the water.
