Andhra Pradesh arts and crafts are world famous. Andhra Pradesh is a land of rich cultural heritage and glorious historical past, where Arts and Culture are deep-rooted. The attractive and popular categories are handicrafts, handlooms, curios and paintings, some of them are exclusive to this state and is not easy to find in other parts of the country.

Kalamkari is a world famous textile pattern known for the beautiful vegetable colors used on the clothes,prominent in Machilipatnam region of the state. Bidri, the craft of exquisite silver works on metal, is another popular form seen especially in the region of Hyderabad. Nirmal painting is highly popular in Nirmal town of Adilabad district, where scenes from Hindu epics of Ramayana and Mahabharata are featured. These fascinating paintings are age-old traditional form of art of the state. Cherial Scroll Paintings are another popular form of paintings where earth colors and mainly used as wall decorations. These are specifically made in Warangal district.

The magnificently stitched cloth studded using impressive mirror work is well known among the visitors to this state. These are made by the women with ivory bangles and have tattoos on their hand.

The expertise of artisans in the traditional practices of toy and doll making is also popular. Kondapalli dolls, made of soft wood called Tella Poniki, are unique creations of this state. Saw dust, enamel gums, tamarind seed powder and watercolors are also used to make these adorable toys.

The women folk in the Narsapur and Palokal areas enjoy making a decorative hand-crocheted lace, a contemporary handicraft, made with slender threads, woven by steel crochet needles.

The curios of Andhra Pradesh make amazing gifts for your friends and relatives, not only for Indian tourists but also for the foreign tourists.

The bronze and brassware works, especially the statues of gods and goddesses, are also popular all over the world.

The exclusive pearls of Hyderabad of the Nizam period, are another form of art highly popular among all the people. These pearls are distinguished in their shape and luster, and make an important part of Andhra Pradesh arts and crafts.
