Kerala Temples
Kerala temples are built using materials like stone, brick, laterite and wood. The primary deities worshipped in Kerala temples are Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu, Bhagavati,Lord Ayyappa and Lord Ganapathi. The architectural elements of the Kerala temples include "Sree kovil" (garbhagriha), gopurams, namaskara mandapams, dwaja stambham, prakarams and Kuttambalam (theatre hall).

A generous use of murals is used for decoration purpose in Kerala temples. Most of the temples will have a temple pond called "ambala kulam" in the temple premises. Non-hindus are not permitted to enter some of the temples, like Guruvayur Srikrishna Temple. Photography is also restricted. They can see the temple only from outside.
